Happy New Year 2017

Happy New Year everyone!  2016 is over, and we are onto a new year!

We had a great Christmas.  It seemed to come all of a sudden and then it was over.  Our 3-year old twins LOVED it this year, and present opening was the most frantic affair I have ever experienced. To see their joy and wonder with the whole season was an experience I will always remember.

My husband and I also ended this year with a bang, celebrating our 11th wedding anniversary with a night away.  It was phenomenal.  My parents stayed with our boys  We saved up some gift certificates from the year and Christmas money so we essentially had a "free" vacation.  We ate out at some our our local favorite places, including a 3-course meal at our local gourmet restaurant Locals, stayed at a resort by the ocean and slept in until 9:40am.  It was heaven!

We also took our annual new year's snowshoe to a local mountainside called Forbidden Plateau.  It is an old ski hill that is no longer in operation.   The hill was busy with kids and families tobogganing and a few dedicated skiers who hiked in and ski'd down at their own pace.

We found a trail and just ventured out not knowing where we were going.  As we hiked up, we had views of the entire Comox Valley, across the Strait of Georgia and to the North Shore mountains.  It was a sunny day and there was so much fresh powder all around us.  It really was a magical experience.

My partner in crime!  (And look at that snow)

He's also a good photographer :)

The snowshoe was one of the best snow experiences I have had for a while.  I can't wait until our kids are old enough to join us on such adventures.  Again, how awesome is it to live somewhere that we can be by the ocean in the morning and up in the snow for the afternoon?  I love the Comox Valley!

How was your winter holiday?  Anyone tempted to come to visit me???  Hope you all have a fantastic New Year.  I can't wait to see what 2017 brings!
